Mix traditional food with a dose of mountain flavors
Due to its position in the northwestern part of Italy, Valle d'Aosta mixes traditional food with a healthy dose of mountain flavors. Here food lovers can combine fine dining with therapeutic spa experiences and thermal baths. As we go on a journey through the heart of Italy's smallest region, let us introduce you to two Michelin restaurants and two thermal baths in Valle d'Aosta.
Michelin 2023: Paolo Griffa al Caffè Nazionale
This historic, centrally located restaurant (and adjacent bar) overlooking the main square in Aosta has been brought back to life by enthusiastic young chef Paolo Griffa, who offers two tasting menus or à la carte. His cuisine is colorful, balanced and contemporary in style, with particular attention paid to harmonious flavors and beautiful presentation.
Michelin 2023: Vecchio Ristoro
Despite its town-centre location and elegant ambience, Vecchio Ristoro's old wheel and millstone in the dining room almost has the feel of the mountains. Here, the talented chef moves effortlessly between typical Valle d'Aosta specialties, French dishes and international cuisine. The wine list offers well over 200 different labels, including carefully selected unusual wines alongside better-known options from leading producers.
Spa and Wellness
In Valle d'Aosta wellness derives, first and foremost, from the pleasure of a warm welcome in a hospitable land, the quality of its genuine food and the beauty of its landscapes, a veritable invitation to relax and to sit back and reflect.
Saint-Vincent Thermal Spa
The Saint-Vincent Thermal Spa is definitely worth a visit when in Valle d'Aosta. The thermal spring, discovered in 1770, was called Fons Salutis (the spring of health) for its distinctive curative properties. Guests will find three indoor pools and one outdoor pool, each with different hydromassage and water jet system. There are also three saunas, with different temperatures and humidity levels, as well as a Turkish bath (hammam), emotional showers and an ice cascade and a relaxing oasis, where guest can find herbal teas, a panoramic terrace with three jacuzzis, Eco-Wood sauna and relaxation area overlooking the valley.
Pré-Saint-Didier Thermal Spa
The wellbeing route at Pré-Saint-Didier includes numerous practices which range from whirlpool baths at variable intensities to relaxing baths with still water and sub aqueous music, toning cascades, themed saunas in wooden chalets, aromatic steam baths, a mud-treatment area, color therapy rooms and much, much more.

The natural springs of Pré Saint Didier are located upstream of the Verney Torrent confluence and flow inside a cave at the base of the Orrido Waterfall. The springs in the area were already known in Roman times, but the systematic use of the waters of Pré-Saint-Didier began in the middle of the 1600s, when the first foreigners came to the Alpine basin to “take the waters”.
