Highway 1 is still closed
There is no estimate for reopening Highway 1 at Paul’s Slide at this time. Travelers in the Morro Bay - Cambria area will be able to travel north for over 47 miles from Cambria on Highway 1 until they encounter the turnaround at Limekiln State Park. All coastal businesses remain open.

As you can see on the map Big Sur is separated into the northern section and the southern section. If you are coming from the south and want to visit the northern section you'll need to take Highway 101 to Highway 68 west (near Salinas) to Highway 1 south from Monterey. If you are coming from Los Angeles, this route adds only about 35 minutes to your drive. If you are coming from the north driving directions are as usual
Will there be a vehicle reservation system in place for the summer peak season of 2024 in Yosemite National Park?
There will be a vehicle reservation system next summer, but there could be changes to how the program is implemented vs. prior years’ post-covid vehicle reservation systems. Over the three previous reservations systems, there were different variations, testing different restrictions. As an example, in last year’s “peak hours” program, a vehicle reservation was required to enter the park between 6 am and 4 pm, including driving over Tioga Pass. Before 6 am and after 4 pm, entrance fee was required, but no reservation was required. We know you all want and need more information to inform your clients. We understand. We are committed to communicating all updates as soon as we’re provided details from the National Park Service.
Brand New Website for Mammoth Lakes
After months of preparation and planning, Mammoth Lakes Tourism (MLT) has launched the new Visit Mammoth website. Following the theme of immersion, visitors can use the “Plan Your Trip” tool to discover content and build customized itineraries that fit their interests, creating and identifying unique visitor personas based on the users' submissions. Mapping tools further support the ease of trip planning, allowing web visitors to plan their trip and daily itineraries while in Mammoth Lakes.
