Khalifa International Stadium
Hosts 7 matches up to Round of 16, and 3rd place

Officially reopened in 2017 after extensive redevelopment, the Khalifa International (or National) Stadium, originally opened its doors in 1976, making it the oldest stadium in Qatar and the first 2022 FIFA World Cup™ tournament venue. The stadium is housed within Doha Sports City Home, home to sport and sports medicine facilities, research and education centres; and establishes Qatar as a fully rounded sporting destination.
Al Janoub Stadium
Hosts 7 matches up to Round of 16

Al Janoub Stadium was inaugurated on 16 May 2019 during the Amir Cup final, and was designed by British-Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid. Located near the former fishing town of Wakrah, draws inspiration from the dhow boats which dot Qatar’s waters, and the pearls which were integral to its economy. The stadium is slated to be used as a local community venue after the competition.
Lusail Iconic Stadium
Matches including FIFA World Cup Final

The largest stadium by capacity this 86,000-seat wonder incorporating sophisticated technologies, is the brainchild of world-famous British architects Foster + Partners. The truly iconic design was inspired by the traditional fanar lantern; embellished by Arab bowls and vessels that reflect the heritage and culture of Qatar.
Stadium 974
Hosts 7 mataches up to Round of 16

Designed by the internationally recognised architects Fenwick Iribarren, this innovative and pioneer, 40,000-capacity stadium was constructed out of shipping containers, and steel elements that pay homage to Qatar’s rich maritime heritage. After the tournament, many parts of the arena - including seats, containers and even the roof will be repurposed for use elsewhere. The stadium itself will make way for a stunning waterfront development for everyone to experience.
Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium
Hosts 7 mataches up to Round of 16

Designed as a tent in the desert, the stadium is yet another state-of-the-art facility destined to amaze thousands of World Cup fans. Built on the site of the former Ahmed bin Ali Stadium itself, the FIFA World Cup 2022™ stadium is located on the edge of the wilderness. The Ahmad Bin Ali stadium’s façade features design elements that represent Qatari culture and Islamic architecture, and display aspects such as family values, the beauty of the desert, flora and fauna and international trade. These elements are integrated within a shield pattern that denotes strength and unity.
Education City Stadium
Matches up untill Quarter-Final stage 2022

Dubbed the “Diamond in the Desert” owing to its façade, Education City Stadium opened in June 2020. Nestled amidst the university campuses in Qatar Foundation's Education City complex, the stadium is shaped like a jagged diamond. Triangles form diamond-shaped geometrical patterns which seem to change colour through the day, as the sun moves across the sky. After the FIFA World Cup 2022™ the stadium will retain 20,000 seats for university athletics, while the rest will be donated to countries requiring sporting infrastructure.
Al Thumama Stadium
Matches up untill Quarter-Final stage 2022

The first stadium designed by a Qatari architect, Ibrahim Mohammed Jaidah drew inspiration from the gahfiya, traditional headwear in Qatar and across MENA. The stadium’s white cladding mimics the complex design of the gahfiya, a head piece worn by young boys before they reach adulthood, at which point ghutras are added atop the gahfiya. Al Thumama Stadium is named after the area in which it is located, which, in turn, took its name from a tree that grows locally. After the FIFA World Cup 2022™, the stadium’s seating capacity will be halved, and it will become a mixed-use leisure development.
Al Bayt Stadium
Matches including Opening through to Semi-Final

The first match of the first FIFA World Cup 2022™ to take place in the Middle East will fittingly be held in a stadium called home. Al Bayt Stadium is built in the shape of a traditional Bedouin tent - bayt al sha’ar, a symbol of hospitality in the desert where guests are welcomed from far and wide to relax and meet locals. Post-tournament, Al Bayt stadium will be repurposed to serve the community around it with a 5-star hotel, shopping center, gym and multipurpose hall. A branch of Aspetar – Qatar’s leading sports medicine facility, will open near the stadium. Dedicated running, cycling and horse-riding tracks will further promote physical activity.
