Explore Southern Denmark with your next MICE client

It has been a beautiful winter in Denmark and especially in Southern Denmark that has been covered in snow. Half way through the final month of winter and with hopes of light at the end of the corona lockdown tunnel, we are ready to show what this beautiful part of Denmark can offer your MICE guests all year round.

Thus we have spent the winter doing research and finding unique places with special DNA. Local hotels, teambuilding activities and events, and much more equals endless opportunities that can contribute to making the next group visit completely unforgettable.

Southern Denmark is easily accessible and has it all. Daily flights connect to Billund Airport or Sønderborg Airport via Copenhagen Airport. Sønderborg, Kolding, Esbjerg, Odense, and Nyborg easily connect to Copenhagen by train within a couple of hours, and costs are in general lower than in Scandinavian capitals.

Below is a selection of the many opportunities Southern Denmark has to offer and that can easily be combined as part of a 2-3 day program. All of the below can be experienced on our next MICE fam to Western & Southern Denmark in March and April. Please reach out to kgn@atlanticlink.net for availability.

Also check-out a few inspirational videos with summaries of FAM trips arranged by Atlantic Link to Northern Denmark in this past June.

Inspirational program: 2-3 day MICE program in Southern Denmark

Bridge walking – walk the Old Little Belt Bridge up to 60 meters over the water and 20 meters over the rails and the cars speeding on the road lanes below you. You will feel the wind in your hair and the sun against your face, and possibly a little bit of tension, but the view sure is beautiful.

• Comwell Hotels have great accommodation for private as well as business stays. In the thrid largest city, Odense, Comwell H.C. Andersen Odense is located in the city centre, just a few minutes walk from the train station, the pedestrian shopping street and H.C. Andersen's House, where the world famous auther grew up. Or you can stay in Comwell Hotel Kolding, which is centrally situated in the centre of Denmark and has a beautiful view of Kolding city and fjord. This is a specialised conference hotel that offers a unique range of flexible meeting and conference facilities.

Design School Kolding is an international talent workshop for the cultivation of Danish design. Danish design is more than beautiful, exclusive products. At Design School Kolding they enrich a long democratic tradition in which designers together with users find sustainable and inclusive solutions in a playful manner.

• Get new inspiration and explore your creativity at the LEGO House – or home of the brick. Home of the world's best play date, it is the perfect place to learn and develop through activity and play.

The Wadden Sea is one of the world's most important tidal flats. A large and unique nature reserve - a place full of life and experiences. The Wadden Sea is both the still surface water and the turbulent ocean outside the dike. The Wadden Sea is Denmark’s largest National Park and a UNESCO World Heritage.

Alsion in Sønderborg is a new and first of its kind place in Denmark gathering culture, education, and scientific research under one roof. Thus, it houses Sønderborg University, a private science park and one of Europe's best acoustic concert halls for classical music.

• The entire Sønderborg-area is involved in the vision of creating a CO2-neutral growth area before 2029, creating and demonstrating new solutions, robust measurable CO2 reductions, new green jobs and a talented generation of young people. The public-private partnership – ProjectZero – was created to inspire and drive Sønderborg´s transition to a ZEROcarbon community by 2029, based on improved energy efficiency, conversion of energy sources into renewables and by creating participation of all stakeholders to reach the ambitious goal: CO2-neutral growth and sustainable urban development. A house that produces more energy than its residents are able to consume, green district heating and ZERO+ companies, shops and schools are some of many examples of the new solutions created in Sønderborg. Town residents are collaborating on new green investments, while farmers are erecting their own wind turbines, demonstrating the broad support for the ProjectZero vision.
Wine and delicate food - Stokkebye
The charming Island in the middle of Denmark, Funen, is home to some great outdoor experiences and gastronomic surprises. In the small village of Bovense, beautifully surrounded by undulating green fields, you’ll find vineyard and family home, Stokkebye. An unusual sight in a country so far North and quite uncommon to the Danish countryside. And that is exactly what you can expect to find here; a unique and exquisite fine food and wine experience.
The Great Northern - golf and spa resort
A short and quick drive from Stokkebye, you can discover the combination of international ambitions, uncompromising quality and Nordic generosity, when Great Northern provides the backdrop for world-class experiences. The Great Northern is an international class golf course located in the scenic town of Kerteminde. The facility consists of two golf courses in a class of their own – Great Northern Course and Academy Course. The courses are the first in Denmark built by Nicklaus Design – one of the world's leading golf course architects and synonymous with quality and unique experiences. Great Northern also houses a clubhouse, a restaurant and a hotel in a unique Nordic design including the Great Northern Spa.
Trapholt - Museum of Modern Art and Design
Trapholt presents a steady succession of exhibitions on art, design and crafts and also boasts its own collections, including a large collection of Danish furniture design.

Inaugurated in 1988, the museum is located in a scenic area overlooking the Kolding Fjord. It is set within a large sculpture park featuring works by contemporary Danish artists.

The museum’s architecture is an attraction in itself. Arranged around a central museum street, the exhibition rooms offer many fascinating spaces to explore. Outside, a powerfully sculptural wall separates the museum from the park.

Arne Jacobsen’s modular house, Kubeflex, allows all those with interest in design and architecture to explore an immersive environment designed entirely by Jacobsen. Created by the internationally renowned Danish architect and designer in 1969–70, the house is the only one of its kind. Previously used as a summerhouse by the Jacobsen family, the house is now on display at Trapholt, furnished with Arne Jacobsen’s own designs. We offer daily guided tours of the house.
Alsik Hotel & Spa
The beautiful, recently opened hotel Alsik is one of the biggest, most fascinating hotels in Denmark. Its hallmarks are tasteful Nordic design and natural materials, and the hotel is part of renowned architect Frank Gehry’s master plan for the Sønderborg waterfront. The inviting, ultra-modern rooms and suites have views of both the town of Sønderborg and one of the loveliest fjord landscapes in Denmark.

A world of experiences in a luxurious, pleasant and relaxed atmosphere awaits you at the hotel. Explore Alsik Nordic Spa with more than sixty different spa and wellness experiences dispersed across 4,500 square metres on four floors. Or pamper your senses with culinary experiences in a class of their own in Alsik’s three restaurants, all of which were developed and are managed by the acclaimed top chef Jesper Koch.
