Val Gardena in Northern Italy is ready for winter guests

On 5 December, the slopes in the Val Gardena – Alpe di Siusi ski area SellaRonda will open for the winter season. Val Gardena is located in the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and offers plenty of space with its 500 km of unique slopes, cutting-edge lift facilities, 30 km of winter hiking paths cleared from snow and 115 km of cross-country skiing slopes. They can all be explored on foot, on skis, or on a sleigh – or even with thoughts from the comfort of the hotel’s swimming pool. An abundance of nature – a total of 7000 m² per guest to be precise.

The valley features 15 lift facilities which will take you to the skiing carousel and their slopes across its three villages. This ensures skiers can spread out across numerous lift facilities which results in fewer clusters of people.

"During spring, the locals and all the hosts in Val Gardena made all the necessary preparations for the hygiene and safety measures with great goodwill and dedication, always with the aim of protecting the health of our guests and the locals in the best possible way," Christina Demetz, Val Gardena’s communications manager, says.

Even the great natural landscape of Val Gardena cannot prevent people from gathering. Val Gardena is therefore constantly considering preparing and organizing their visitors' winter holiday with and despite COVID-19 and ensuring that it is as adventurous and relaxing, as well as safe and carefree as possible.

"The summer is now over and we are happy to announce that the security measures have been effective and that there have been no infections despite the many tourists who have spent their holidays in our valley. The positive experiences serve as an important basis for us to put together a large number of measures tailored to the coming winter season", Christina Demetz explains.

Always follow these three basic rules to guarantee overall safety:

• Keep your distance (1 meter)
• Wear a mask if you cannot guarantee social distancing
• Regularly wash and disinfect your hands
