Dear friends and travel partners

During the past couple of weeks, we have been busy with the launch of our brand new business concept named 'Atlantic Link Inbound', which you can read much more about here. We are very interested in any feedback and business opportunities, and we encourage all interested tourism partners to contact us for a dialogue on how we can help increase the sale of your product or destination on available platforms. We are currently working on various activities including workshops and a FAM trip in June, so don't hesitate to reach out.

In the meantime, we continue to long for the days when traveling is something to look forward to and not just dream about. For this newsletter, we have taken a stroll down memory lane highlighting some of the events, and historic milestones that some of the destinations we represent are famous for.

Warm regards,
Karin Gert Nielsen, CEO Atlantic Link
San Francisco Travel:
Celebrating 50 years of Pride
The 50th anniversary San Francisco Pride Celebration and Parade has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic but the spirit of this milestone event will still be celebrated, a time for acknowledging San Francisco’s LGBTQ heritage while celebrating all the fun and fabulous things that repeatedly make it one of the top cities in the world for gay travel.
The San Francisco Travel Association has created a new video to honor and celebrate the 50th anniversary of San Francisco Pride, acknowledging that, in this city, pride is a year-round state of mind.
Yosemite Mariposa County:
The History of Mariposa County
There are little bits of history around every corner in Yosemite Mariposa County. From the charming gold rush era towns that still exist today to Yosemite National Park, there is a sense of timeless wonder that exists in this great community.
Yosemite is bringing that history directly to you in the form of a new video series that was recently launched. “Mariposa Gold” details the rich Gold Rush history of Mariposa County and shows you how to experience it firsthand on your next visit to the great mountain county.
Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau:
America's Birthplace
On July 4 1776, The United States Declaration of Independence was signed in Philadelphia, marking the first step towards forming the United States of America and earning Philadelphia the nickname as America's Birthplace. The Declaration explained why the Thirteen Colonies at war with the Kingdom of Great Britain regarded themselves as thirteen independent sovereign states, no longer under British rule. Pennsylvania State House (now known as Independence Hall) marked the historic site of the meeting of representatives from the thirteen states such as Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and Virginia. Today, Independence Hall is one of many historic must visits in Philadelphia.
Mammoth Lakes:
Bodie Ghost Town
Bodie Ghost Town is the largest unrestored ghost town in the West. Bodie produced gold and silver from 1877 to 1888, and the town grew to 10,000 residents. Once notorious as the wildest town in the West—with its saloons, bordellos, gambling houses and opium dens—the town is now preserved as a California State Historic Park with weathered buildings, a museum, mine tours and a visitor center. 170 structures still stand in a state of "arrested decay", including a general store where the same items remain from when it was locked up in 1912.
Sonoma County Tourism:
The Bear Flag
Did you know, that the now famous flag of California, originated in Somona? It was first raised on June 14 1846, by a group of American settlers revolting against the rule of Mexico, proclaiming California an independent republic, before joining the United States of America only four years later in 1850. The Bear Flag became the official state flag in 1911 and is based on the original Bear Flag painted by William Todd in 1846. The star was taken from the lone star of Texas. The Bear was representative of the numerous Grizzly Bears in the state and the words "California Republic" testify to the feisty American pioneers who settled in the territory.

Mayflower celebrates 400 years
In September 1620, a group of around 100 English men and women, later known to history as the Pilgrims, set sail for the New World aboard the Mayflower. Two months later, the merchant ship landed on the shores of Cape Cod, in present-day Massachusetts. The settlement served as the capital of the colony and developed as the town of Plymouth, Massachusetts. A year later, the pilgrims would share a meal with the natives, celebrating their first harvest. Today, this is known as the first Thanksgiving, and has been celebrated each year ever since. The Mayflower ship has become a cultural icon in the history of the United States, and celebrates its 400 year anniversary this year.
